Enrollment Process
Get Started
Planning a Discovery Student Adventure for your child is easy. Your child may be invited to join a teacher’s group from his or her school or community, be connected with a teacher preparing for an adventure to the specific location he or she is interested in, or build his or her own travel group.
Begin by choosing the appropriate statement below and follow the steps.
My child was invited to join a teacher’s travel group.
Explore
- Learn more online about the chosen adventure.
- You have the option to attend the teacher’s information night.
Enroll
- You will receive a special invitation with a link to enroll in the teacher’s travel group.
- Apply online using the teacher’s invitation.
Prepare
- If your child doesn’t have a passport, apply for it now!
- Visit the Travel Center regularly—here you’ll find all the resources you need, including pre-travel assignments, payment information, fundraising ideas, and all of the necessary forms to prepare for the adventure.
- The whole family can participate and learn about the adventure through our Discovery Education videos. Your child’s teacher may also used related lesson plans to integrate the trip into the classroom.
Live the Adventure
- Work with your child to complete his or her Discovery Student Adventures community profile.
- Connect with other parents and teachers in the online community.
- Follow the blogs and posts of your child and his or her group during the trip.

Meet Your Travel Group
- Once you’ve determined where your child will travel, your adventure specialist will find the travel group that fits your child best.
- We’ll connect you with the traveling teacher and other parents.
- Get acquainted with students, teachers, and other parents through email, phone, and the web.
Prepare
- If your child doesn’t have a passport, apply for it now!
- Visit the Travel Center regularly—here you’ll find all the resources you need, including pre-travel assignments, payment information, fundraising ideas, and all of the necessary forms to prepare for the adventure.
Participate and Learn
- The whole family can participate and learn about the adventure through our Discovery Education videos.
Live the Adventure
- Work with your child to complete his or her Discovery Student Adventures community profile.
- Connect with other parents and teachers in the online community.
- Follow the blogs and posts of your teacher and other travelers during your child’s adventure.
We would like to build our own local group and find a teacher to lead it.
Spread the Word
- Tell your friends, family, and coworkers.
- Talk to your child’s teachers.
- Call our office and meet your adventure specialist, who will work with you to find and enlist a qualified teacher and assist all parents with the enrollment process.
Choose Your Adventure
- Enroll your child with a friend or
- Enroll through the teacher, once he or she has applied to lead the group.
