Make the World Your Classroom—Earn Academic Credit for Travel

Discovery Student Adventures offer a rich educational experience through hands-on activities before and during the trip, leading to a lifelong curiosity and interest in global education. Through focused curriculum tailored to our programs, students will explore the history, natural science, culture, art, geography, and ecology of their destination. Successful completion of a trip and the assigned coursework qualifies students for academic credit through the Washington School of World Studies, a dually accredited travel study and distance learning school. Students will receive a transcript upon completion of the adventure.

Student Academic Credit

Students in grades 9 – 12 earn one semester elective credit in social studies. Stand out from the competition in the college admissions race, and show colleges and universities your educational experience in and out of the classroom.

Students in grades 5 – 8 earn a Certificate of Completion. This certificate may be used to request extra credit for classes or to supplement a student’s academic record.

Service-Learning Credit

All students earn 10 service-learning hours for completion of a community service project while on the program.

Continuing Education Credit for Educators

Because of the comprehensive curriculum our leaders are asked to deliver before and during these unique adventures, educators may be eligible for continuing education units (CEUs).
